Weblogger
Basic Setup
1. Install the machine with a screen and keyboard.
2. Connect ethernet eth0 to IP network
3. Connect eth1 to the switch mirror / span traffic port.
4. Boot the machine up
5. Log in to the machine via the console
a. Username: pantherlogger
b. Password: panthervm
6. Start to change the password for a new command 'passwd'
7. Configure your network card so the machine can be accessed on the IP network with the command 'netconfig eth0', then choose the static IP address. NB! Remember that eth1 is not configured with the IP number.
8. Reboot the machine.
Inspection and Testing
9. Type 'ifconfig eth1' and read the values of RX and TX. Do it twice in a row and see if the value RX grows. If not, then switches mirror / span port is not correctly configured on the switch.
10. Finish then an 'ls-l / data / log' to see whether there has been log files. This automatically creates a log file directory with logs for each web space. If catalogs are created, the solution is properly configured and operational.
11. If there are still problems, contact Panther Applications.
Integration with other systems
12. Data can be access with FTP or Samba (Windows file sharing), NFS. This is set up like traditional Linux systems.
13. Depending on the method you choose to access the data, the firewall needs configuration. The firewall used is the IP tables.
