DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL SECTION

(Click here to go directly to download)

Feel free to comment or ask question in the end of this thread.

This section is in development. The section will be filled in steps. The first step is to make it possible for potential users to download and install the application. We have recently changed platform from SUSE to Ubunto because of license issues, so beware of minor bugs related to the transition. We are working on it, and bugs will be corrected when we are getting aware of them.

We will publish guides and manuals on how to install and use the modules over time. We try to publish one each week. If you find difficulties or have problems, feel free to comment it here on the forum. We will manage the forum, so that bug messages will be removed when bugs are fixed.

Okay, we won't hold you anymore. You should be ready to download now.

Step 1: Agree to the GNU General Public License, Panther Applications Terms and Conditions

1.1 Read this (click here)

1.2 Disclaimer of Warranty.

THERE IS NO WARRANTY FOR THE PROGRAM, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW. EXCEPT WHEN OTHERWISE STATED IN WRITING THE COPYRIGHT HOLDERS AND/OR OTHER PARTIES PROVIDE THE PROGRAM “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE PROGRAM IS WITH YOU. SHOULD THE PROGRAM PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION.

1.3 Limitation of Liability.

IN NO EVENT UNLESS REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE LAW OR AGREED TO IN WRITING WILL ANY COPYRIGHT HOLDER, OR ANY OTHER PARTY WHO MODIFIES AND/OR CONVEYS THE PROGRAM AS PERMITTED ABOVE, BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY GENERAL, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE PROGRAM (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA OR DATA BEING RENDERED INACCURATE OR LOSSES SUSTAINED BY YOU OR THIRD PARTIES OR A FAILURE OF THE PROGRAM TO OPERATE WITH ANY OTHER PROGRAMS), EVEN IF SUCH HOLDER OR OTHER PARTY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Interpretation of Sections 1.2 and 1.3.

If the disclaimer of warranty and limitation of liability provided above cannot be given local legal effect according to their terms, reviewing courts shall apply local law that most closely approximates an absolute waiver of all civil liability in connection with the Program, unless a warranty or assumption of liability accompanies a copy of the Program in return for a fee.

END OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Step 2: If you want to make a quick tryout of Panther Admin go to Option 2.1. If you plan for starting up production use or serious testing go to Option 2.2.

CHOOSE:

Option 2.1 Prepare your VMware workstation with VMware software from https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/?p=workstation&lp=1

Specs for VMware workstation:

Platform: 64bit
CPU: 1
Memory: min. 2048 MB
Disk: min. 40 GB (for production use, you have to make sure you can add more disk)
NICs: 2 x Ethernet 100/1000 (need 2 physical adapters for firewalled ESG operations)
IP-Addresses: min. 1

Option 2.2) Prepare your VMware ESXi server with VMware software from https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/index.php?p=free-esxi&lp=1

Specs for VMware ESXi server:

Platform: 64bit
CPU: 1
Memory: min. 2048 MB
Disk: min. 40 GB (for production use, you have to make sure you can add more disk)
NICs: 2 x Ethernet 100/1000 (need 2 physical adapters for firewalled ESG operations)
IP-Addresses: min. 1

*Make sure that the server can access a DHCP server for IP allocation.

Step 3: Download VMware image here http://78.111.170.51:8080/

Step 4: Unzip the file and upload the containing files and directories to your VMware ESXi server.

You have to use 7zip to unzip it. 7z compress the image 3 to 4 timers better than normal zip, which is the reason for using 7z. Download 7zip here (click here).

Step 5: Add image to your VMware inventory (click here to see how)

Step 6: Boot the VMware image in your VMware server

Step 7: Use the VMware console to access the operating system.

Step 8: Login with username: pantheradmin password: panthervm

Step 9: Change passwords on default users:

9.1) use the command: 'sudo root passwd' (default password is panthervm)

9.2) use the command: 'sudo pantheradmin passwd' (default password is panthervm)

Eventually create new administration users.

9.3) use the command: 'sudo adduser new_user_name'

9.4) set password with command 'sudo password new_user_name'

Step 10: Lookup the IP-address of system.

10.1) using command 'ifconfig'

Make sure to write down the IP address so you can test access the server.

Optionally change the IP address to a static IP using this guide (click here)

Step 11: Reboot the machine and check that you got access to your network.

Step 12: You are now up and running with the basic installation of Panther Admin.

Step 13: Test that the base system is up and running.

13.1) With your webbrowser, try to access the IP-address http://IP-address

13.2) Login with username "root" with password "stop".

13.3) Verify that the webserver is running.

13.4) Verify that you can login.

13.5) In the screen you login to, search for testuser.

13.6) Verify that you got one result.

13.7) If you came so far, it seems that your basic installation is up and running.

Step 14: Start setting up the base platform. (click here)

Step 15: Deside which modules you would like to make use of and follow the how to instructions for each module below. More information about the specific modules can be read here (click here)
